My JHouse Rocks Exclusive Interview with Aural Vampire

busy schedule to allow this interview with My JHouse Rocks.

Please
introduce yourself and your role in the band for the fans new to your music.
自分自身と自分の音楽に新しいファンのためのバンドでの自分の役割を紹介してください。
EXO-CHIKA:
The members
are vocalist EXO-CHIKA. RAVEMAN is responsible for all music production and
artwork. Drummer IZU, and bassist Wu-CHY. Currently there are 4 people.
メンバーはボーカル担当のEXO-CHIKA。全ての楽曲制作やアートワークを担当するRAVEMAN。それから演奏にDrumのIZU、BassのWu-CHY。現在4人です。
Who came up
with your band’s name and what inspired it?
誰があなたのバンドの名前とそれに影響を与えたと思いつきましたか？
EXO-CHIKA:
There was an
image of aligning the two words originally, one to express the sound 'aural',
and the other was 'vampire' to represent the world view of the horror movie.
EXO-CHIKA and RAVEMAN, who are members, had no common interests in music and
other hobbies, but the only thing that I liked about horror movies was the
consensus. I wanted to make the image of the band a color of the taste of the
horror movie.
元々2つの単語を合わせようというイメージがありました、1つはサウンドを表現する「Aural」、もう1つはホラー映画の世界観を表すために「Vampire」としました。メンバーであるEXO-CHIKAとRAVEMANは音楽などの趣味は全く共通点がなかったのですが、唯一ホラー映画が好きと言うことは一致しておりました。ホラー映画のテイストのイメージをバンドの色にしようと思ったのです。
How did
everyone meet?
誰もがどのように満たしていたのですか？
EXO-CHIKA:
RAVEMAN and I
are high school mates. At the time, RAVEMAN was producing techno and noise
music by himself, but I did not know such music and EXO-CHIKA said “If you are
making music, make something, I’ll sing
on it.” I got acquainted with IZU and Wu - CHY at BUCK-TICK’s drummer Yagami's
home party. I was looking for a member who could play the band at that time.

EXO-CHIKAとRAVEMANはハイスクールメイトです。当時RAVEMANはテクノやノイズミュージックを1人で制作していたのですが、そんな音楽性とは知らずEXO-CHIKAが「音楽作ってるんだったら、なんか作ってよ。歌うから」といった一言がはじまりです。IZU、Wu-CHYとはBUCK-TICKのドラム担当であるヤガミトールさんのホームパーティーで知り合いました。当時バンド演奏できるメンバーを探してました。
What is your
usual songwriting process and where do you usually gather songwriting
inspiration?
通常の作詞作曲のプロセスとどこが通常作詞作曲のインスピレーションを収集しないとは何ですか？
RAVEMAN:
The most
common way is to create a strange tone, or from a looping rhythm, and then
start thinking about it. I think this is because of the roots of how to make
techno and dance music. The other way is to build from the idea of the scenery
and the theme of the music. It is the transmission all from RAVEMAN.
一番多いのは奇妙な音色、あるいはループしたリズムから作り、そこから発想していくやり方です。これはテクノやダンスミュージックの作り方がルーツにあるからだと思います。他には楽曲の風景やテーマのアイディアから構築していくやり方です。全てRAVEMANからの発信になります。
How has music
and fashion influenced your life?
どのように音楽とファッションは、あなたの人生に影響を与えましたか？
EXO-CHIKA:
I think that
such activities of the band increased the influence more than anything to the
feeling of own fashion. Even if it is eccentric clothes that you do not wear
everyday, even if it is expensive clothes, there are plenty of opportunities to
wear if you wear costumes. Choosing such clothes itself is a big influence.
Music is also medicine, it is poison, it is also a communication tool...There
are too many things to talk about really.
こういったバンド活動する事が、自身の持つファッション感覚に、なにより影響を増えたかと思います。日常では着ないようなエキセントリックな服だったり、高価な服だったとしても、衣装だったら着れるチャンスも沢山あります。そういった服選びをすること自体がなにより大きい影響です。
音楽は薬でもあるし、毒でもあるし、コミュニケーションツールでもあるし…本当に語る事が多すぎますね。
Raveman, when
you create new music, what is your favorite software to use and which modular
machines do you feel gives you the best results?
Ravemanは、あなたが新しい音楽を作成するときに、お好みのソフトウェアを使用するとモジュラーどのマシンがあなたが最良の結果をあなたに与えます感じています何ですか？
RAVEMAN:
I think that
it is probably not much different from the software used by many trackmakers,
but ... I like vintage rhythm machines for personal tastes. TR-909, TR-707,
Drumtrak, MR 10, etc. I am feeling pleasure by ownership of hardware here. It
is not standing, but I use it with several songs.
恐らく多くのトラックメイカーが使っているソフトと、あまり変わらないと思いますけど…個人的な趣向ではビンテージのリズムマシンが好きですね。TR-909、TR-707、Drumtrak、MR10などなど。こちらはハードウェアを所有する事で喜びを感じてます。常備ではありませんが、いくつかの楽曲で使用してます。
What is your
favorite tradition from your childhood that you would love to pass on if you
were to ever have children?
あなたは今までに子供を持っていた場合に合格するのが大好きだあなたの子供の頃からのお気に入りの伝統は何ですか？
EXO-CHIKA:
Dietary life
changes often, but you can eat raw meat. It is not uncommon in Japan.
食生活はよく変化するのですが生肉食べますよ。日本では珍しくないです。
RAVEMAN:
There are so
many kinds of rice crackers in Japan, but there are times when I find something
that is still surprising.
日本の煎餅はすごく種類ありますけど、未だに驚きあるものを見つける時があります。
If you could
describe yourself using only characters from anime, who/what would it be?
あなたは誰/それは何でしょう？、アニメからの文字のみを使用して自分自身を説明することができれば
EXO-CHIKA:
I do not
understand his personality but I heard that he resembles the 18th issue of
Dragon Ball.
性格はわからないですけどドラゴンボールの18号に似てるって言われます。
Which
vampiric character do you feel is your favorite?
吸血鬼どの文字あなたの好きなと感じていますか？
EXO-CHIKA:
Shinobu
Oshino of the Bakemonogatari series, she is cute.
化物語シリーズの忍野忍とかカワイイですね
Having played
Anime Matsuri in Houston in previous years, what part of the convention and
city is your favorite to enjoy and why?
は、前の年にヒューストンでアニメ祭りを果たした、大会や市内のどの部分がなぜ楽しむためにあなたの好きなのですか？
RAVEMAN:
I couldn't go
anywhere except the convention center, but I enjoyed playing with the
management staff and the co-stars from Japan. They've been listening to Aural
Vampire for ten years.
I was glad
that some of my fans came to see me.
Oh, then I
went to the Japanese Consulate in Texas!
今回コンベンションセンター以外の場所はあまり行けなかったのですが、運営スタッフの皆様や、
日本からの共演者と遊んで楽しかったです。それから10年前からオーラルヴァンパイアを聞いてる！って見に来てくれたファンの人もいて嬉しかったです。
ああそれからテキサスの日本領事館に行きましたよ！
I remember
seeing Aural Vampire open for The Birthday Massacre in 2011 for their US tour.
What are your favorite memories of that tour? Any artists whom you would like
to join for a US Tour in the future?
私はオーラルヴァンパイアは自分のUSツアーのために2011年に誕生日の大虐殺のために開いて見て覚えています。そのツアーのお気に入りの思い出は何ですか？あなたが将来的に米国ツアーに参加したい任意のアーティスト？
EXO-CHIKA:
Yes, that
about a month of touring was really memorable for us. It was my first
experience of playing live every day, traveling by bus, or just looking for
restaurants to eat. I want to see the members of Birthday Massacre again!
はい、あの約1ヶ月のツアーは私たちにとっても本当に思い出深いものでした。毎日ライブやるのも初めての経験でしたし、バスでの移動生活や、ただ飲食するためのレストラン探しも全て冒険でした。Birthday Massacreのメンバーにはまた会いたいですね！
If you had to
give up music – what would you do to be creative?
あなたが音楽をあきらめなければならなかった場合 - あなたは創造的に何をしますか？
RAVEMAN:
When I was a
student, I had a choice between going to the music path or going to the manga
artist's path. I like the overall expressive activity, so I thought that it
would be best to do an independent band activity to do everything.
学生の時に音楽の道に行くか、漫画家の道に行くか選択した時がありましたよ。総合的な表現活動が好きなので、全てをやるにはインディペンデントでバンド活動する事が一番かなと思ったのです。
What has been
the best venue or gig you’ve ever played? And why?
何があなたが今までプレーした最高の会場やギグてきましたか？なぜ？
EXO-CHIKA:
There are
various, but 2006 Halloween party in Japan.. Now, the culture that I enjoy with
a large number of people dressed in Halloween in Japan is completely rooted,
but it was still like the starting point. The quality of the costume is high,
and the spectacle from the stage is impressive. Then Aural Vampire done a solo
live last year. I was impressed by the venue where people who really liked it
gathered.
色々ありますが2006年の日本のハロウィンパーティー。今では日本でハロウィンを仮装した大人数で楽しむ文化がすっかり根付いてますが、まだこの頃はその出発地点のようでした。仮装のクオリティも高くて、ステージからみた光景が印象的です。それから昨年行った単独ライブ。オーラルヴァンパイア本当に好きな人が集まった会場で、感動しました。
Anything you
would like to tell the fans, such as new merch, upcoming tours, new albums, or
any anything in general?
あなたは、このような新しい商品、今後のツアー、新アルバム、または一般に任意のもののようにファンを、伝えたい何か？
RAVEMAN:
They work at
their own pace. Now, I want to make a great work carefully and steadily in a
situation without any restrictions. Thank you!
